Blog Syndication

What is Blog Syndication? – Few people realise that actually, writing a blog post is only half the job. The really successful websites achieve greatness because they put a lot of work into syndicating their content.

Does the title of this blog syndication article make sense to you? – it sure does to me because you cannot expect people to just come across your website each time you publish an article.

The next post in my blogging series will help you understand the importance of syndicating your content and, more importantly, how to go about letting the world know about your work.

If you’ve tried your hand at blogging in the past, then you probably already know how challenging the process can really be. Between all of the research, brainstorming, writing, and editing, you also need to devote a great deal of creativity and time to a single piece of content.

Though blog content is often extremely useful in the online world, there may be times when you find that you simply don’t have the time, or the mindset required to create amazing posts on a daily basis, and that’s where blog syndication becomes so important.

Defining Blog Syndication

In simple terms, blog syndication occurs when a post, article, or other piece of content from your blog is featured on a different website relevant to your industry or niche.

The more your writing is recognized through syndication on popular websites, the more likely it is that your exposure will lead to bigger paychecks and better opportunities in the future. For a professional blogger, it can even mean that you’re approached to provide guest blogs or content for those bigger outlets, while still tailoring for your own local blog post publications.

While blogging always comes with an aim to drive traffic towards your website or webpage, finding a huge amount of traffic can be difficult – particularly when you’re new to the industry. However, if you can get your voice heard through an existing loud speaker, such as a popular industry website, the sky is the limit for what comes next.

Is Blog Syndication A Good Idea? – Yes, it sure is Mark!

Some people suggest that content syndication isn’t as valuable as it seems, and argue that Google might penalize other creators for having duplicate content. However, now that there’s a link designed to direct bots back to the website where the content was originally published, you shouldn’t actually see any penalization as a result of syndication.

Another concern has been that syndicating content may not be the best way to drive traffic to your website, but this issue can be rectified too when you lead traffic back to your site with links.

The reality is that there aren’t really any disadvantages to content and blog syndication, but there are plenty of benefits, from exposing your content to a wide range of viewers, to increasing your popularity on the internet, and enhancing traffic to your website.

What’s more, as you engage in blog syndication, you can sometimes find that the process allows you to be more credible as an expert in your field, while you continue to receive quality links from other sites, and improve your search rankings too!

Thought for the day!

If you are a newspaper company you would not write up the newspapers and then leave them on the office floor. You will publish them. Likewise, if you write a blog syndicate it!
