One of the key issues with starting any business (never mind a home-based one) is the fact that you’re faced with a mountain of jobs.

But let’s be clear on something.

Not everything is urgent. Not everything is essential.

And in fact, your success will depend on your ability to weed out what’s important and what’s not. After all, there are only so many hours in the day.

But that’s not all.

You simply can’t do everything on your own. The biggest brands in the world employ huge teams to cover a massive range of jobs. Even the best entrepreneurs around, while they might appear all-knowing, don’t know how to do everything.

Point is, we all have different skillsets. We’re all good at different things. Now we can certainly all learn new skills and techniques, but we don’t start out with all the answers.

Not sure how to write website copy?

Not a problem.

Don’t know how to code a website?

Nor do I.

Unsure where to start with a social media campaign?

We’ve all been there.

The trick is to work out where your strengths lie and go from there. And once you’ve identified something that you need to work on, assuming it’s a worthwhile and relevant job that’s going to grow your business, start learning from people who are experts in that field. Now that does raise another point, namely how do you know who is genuinely an expert and who is just a self-proclaimed guru?

Well, there are no hard and fast rules, but you’ll need to start using your intuition. Do they have many followers on Twitter? Have they been in business long? Are they open enough to illustrate their successes and failures? Does their website pass the ‘eyeball test’?

Ask yourself those sorts of questions.

Leveraging the skills and thoughts of experts will be the quickest way to accelerate your business growth.

You’re not an expert at everything. Nor should you be. No one is. So isn’t admitting that rather exciting?

I wish you every success in running your home business leveraging the skills of others so that you can work on your business.

  1. Your Home Business Leverage post about using other people’s knowledge and skill sets was just right on the money, very good. I also have a couple of points that is good.

They are: Three errors that most people have when starting a online business.

    #1 Afraid to spend money

    #2 No Plan of ACtion

    #3 No proper optmization software.

I also have some other very good information on other things you will most likely have a great concern in.
