In this article Mark Ford addresses a very important mindset issue and that is value based selling. An element of your home business that you must not overlook is the value based selling of your products and services.

When looking at your products and how to sell them you should always look at the value your products and services gives to people.

Many individuals look at how much value a product will give them in their lives over how much it costs. They want to see the benefits they will get from it and how it will improve their lives.

So as a marketer you must focus on this and explain how it will work for your prospective customer. If you do this then you are putting more emphasis on the value that you are giving and really the price in many respects is immaterial.

If you don’t then maybe you are making it all about you, which you must not, it is about what your customer gets out of it and not you!

The general rule of thumb is that value based selling is the difference between the price that you charge for your products and services and what the customer thinks the benefits are from having the product or service.

If they think they will get huge benefit from the amount they pay for something then they will have a very high perception of the value that they receive. When marketing your products tell individuals how your products will help them achieve their goals or will provide a solution to their problems.

Value Based Selling – How To Sell Value

Who Is Your Ideal Customer – You must visualize your ideal customer and build up an avatar of that person. Are they male or female, what is their age, how much disposable income have they got and even the level of education they attained to.

What Is Their Problem – You must identify the problems that they are suffering from. Try to get into the head of the person, you may be able to do this from your own experiences or from experiences of people who you know.

Pinpoint the pain points and then become the problem solver by offering them clear solutions that they can benefit from. Remember if you can’t find any clear problems then there is no market.

List The Benefits Your Products & Services Offer – Sit down and write all the benefits that your products and services offer to potential customers.

What you need is to come up with is as many benefits as you can so you put the person into the position where they really will not be able to resist buying from you.


The value based selling tips that I have shared with you clearly outline just what value based selling is. Focus on what your products offer people to enhance their lives and make much less emphasis on the price that you charge.
