Blog Structure

What is Blog Structure And Why Should You Worry About It?

Do you struggle with blog structure and accepting that knowing how to structure a blog is important? Well, this article will help you. First of all, I talk about the importance of blog structure. Then I go on to explain a couple of important aspects of blogging, such as how to plan out a blog post.

Mark Ford – Blog Structure

If you’re new to the world of blogging, you might have seen the phrase “blog structure” and been baffled by the very concept. Most people begin blogging simply by opening up a new page on their word processor and staring at their blinking cursor until inspiration strikes and they have what they need to write a compelling intro. However, that might not be the right solution when it comes to creating an incredible blog post.

Instead, you might find that you work much better if you create the structure of your blog before you do anything else.

Although it might seem like extra time and effort, blog structure can be a great way to improve the blogging experience for you, and your readers.

Blog Structure – Think Before You Write Your Blog Post!

The first step in creating a good blog structure is to think carefully about your topic before you begin writing. Grab a piece of paper and write down a list of the information you might want to use in your article or post, including quotes from reliable sources.

Seeing all of this text down on paper will give you a better idea of what you’re writing about, what the tone should be, and what goes where.

Blog Structure – Linking Topics Together

If you have a clear idea of the blog topics that you want to cover in your article, you can start bundling topics and looking for ways that one idea can smoothly transition into another. Topics that are similar will need to be discussed together, while contrasting topics might need to be connected with an explanation, and so on.

Blog Structure – Ordering Topics

Finally, once you’re finished bundling, you will need to decide on the order that you want to present the topics you’re covering. In most cases, you’ll probably address the issue thematically. For instance, if you want to discuss various angles or opinions on the same topic, you might start with an opposing view, followed by an agreeable view, followed by an opposing view, and so on. Alternatively, you might decide that you want to link all of your opposing and agreeable views together.

Blog Structure – Structure Creates Productivity

It’s worth remembering that even the most productive writers can be sabotaged by distraction. Since a disorganized writer often leads to a disorganized blog post, it’s worth working to a consistent blog structure if you want to create better content.

What’s more, structuring your content will help you to see areas that are too difficult to follow in your post, or areas that your audience might have trouble understanding. In other words, it makes the editing process easier too!

For most people, part of the issue with blogging is that it seems such a vast subject to deal with and many struggle with the consistency of creating valuable content on a regular basis.

Coming up with a topic is one thing, but what’s the best way to structure a blog?

Blog Structure – Search Engine Optimisation

With all that said, let’s not forget the importance also of optimizing your content. You maybe driving paid traffic to the post from the pay per click platforms but if you also optimize and syndicate your content you will double, if not treble, the potential for your readership to actually be interested in what you write.

By adding the right keywords into the content of the post, adding header H1, H2, H3 tags, allocating your post to a category where other related content has been saved, adding in your meta tags, titling and adding a description to the post, and adding images that are relevant to the content you will be better placed to put your content in front of the right audience in the search engines and increase your chances of getting ranked.

If you consistently syndicate your blog content then this also increases the opportunity to actually get your content seen.
