Blog vs Website

Blog vs Website – What Are The Differences?

In this post I will look at a blog vs website. What the differences between the two are so that you can dertermine just which one is suitable for you to get started with in your home business.

If you were to look at a blog vs website what would you see? In most respects you would not see a lot of differences. What you should realise is that a blog is a type of website.

Blogs are published online and allow you to add regular content, in my case daily. They are fluid and the posts are generally listed in the order that they were published. The most recent being the first one listed at the top of the page.

A website is more of a static entity and can been seen as being more formal and some people see them as being more professional. That opinion is open for debate.

The content you put on a blog is managed by a content management system. This allows you to very easily add content, edit it and even remove it from the system.

Adding content is like using a word processing system where you can format text as you require, add images and video with just a click.

On websites the content is usually very static and in some respects the communication that websites have can be seen as a one way conversation. Them to you!

Blogs however can initiate interaction as the readers of blogs can comment on your posts. This is great because you have a tool that you can use to form relationships.

With a website you can showcase your products and services all under one tab or menu.

With blogs you can do the same but in much more of an informative and educational way. You can be a lot less formal and talk to the reader in a way that you would possibly talk to a friend, listening to their issues and problems before offering them the solution.

Websites can be seen as offering more transactional services because they have the order pages or shopping carts that are readily accessible. If you want something you can go straight away and buy it. The process is a bit more clinical.

With blogs you can certainly use it to sell products and services but it is a bit more subtle in the way I mentioned before. You can address certain problems by talking to the person, creating the desire to buy and then offer them the opportunity to go and purchase the product.

So What Is Better – Blog vs Website?

Blog vs Website

That is a question that there really is no clear cut answer to. What I will say is… why have to make that decision? You can have both at the same time.

With a platform like WordPress you can have both. In it’s infancy WordPress had basic themes which could be seen as cheap and cheerful. They did the job.

Now you can get beautiful, professional looking themes for just about any industry or niche. The functionality of a WordPress site has everything that any business could ever want. So you can have the look and feel of a professional, formal looking website with the blog facility built into it so that you can have that conversation with your prospective client. A win/win situation.

So my advice would be to go and set up a WordPress website/blog. Now to help you further I can offer you a resource which will teach you about what content to put on your site. Also it will show you how to structure it, all the benefits about blogging and how to monetize your site.

It is a resource that I have created and it is called Your Blog Content. It is a blueprint that you can follow in order to set up a powerful communication and revenue generating machine. Your can get your copy by clicking below.
