How To Start Your Own Podcast

What Are You Going To Talk About? – You really need to pick an engaging topic to speak about. It helps if you pick a topic that you are really passionate about. This is because your audience will really pick up on that and it makes you more authentic. It gives you a much bigger chance for your podcast to be a success.

Also speaking about something that you are passionate about will give your show longevity, which is a another key to success. You want to be around in a years time or 5 years from now to build up that loyal band of listeners.

Creating Your Audience – Now that you have picked your topic, who are you going to speak to? You need to create a profile or avatar of you ideal listener.

What you should be trying to achieve is that the person that listens to your podcast has the feeling that your podcast was created especially for them. That you are addressing their personal pain points, that you are giving them valuable information about their problems and giving them the solution.

So you should ask yourself two questions. The first is “who are you broadcasting to?” and secondly “what do they want to hear?”

What Equipment Do You Need? – To create a podcast you obviously need the tools of the trade but it doesn’t need to break the bank balance.

You can create a podcast using your laptop and the in built microphone. Saying that, you may want to look into getting a slightly higher spec microphone to give you a better quality of sound. You don’t even need a recording studio, if you have a quiet place in your home then this will be more than adequate.

Publishing Your Podcast – How To Start – There are many platforms that can host your podcast to enable people to listen to it and subscribe. iTunes is the standout platform but it is worth looking at others to see what features they offer and what is right for you.

These tips on how to start your own podcast that I have shared with you will help you break into the media world of podcasting. Who knows in time you will have a really successful home business podcast with a loyal army of thousands of listeners.
