In this article Mark Ford looks at some of the bad habits that new entrepreneurs form and how to break them.

As with anything you do that is new you will make mistakes and hopefully learn from them. This could be doing tasks incorrectly which produce a negative result but there is a difference between making a mistake and forming habits.

Some habits are good to create but there are some really bad habits that new entrepreneurs make that could seriously affect the success of their new business venture.

So that is what I am going to talk about today and help you avoid forming these bad habits.

I thought that this would really help new entrepreneurs because these bad habits often occur naturally and you don’t see them building up. Let me share three of them with you so you can nip them in the bud when you notice them happening.

New Entrepreneurs – The Three Most Common Bad Habits That Can Creep Up On You

New Entrepreneurs – Bad Habit #1 – Working Too Late

I know only too well myself that you have to put the hours in at the start when you are launching any new business venture but what I mean by working too late is working right up to point that you go to bed.

You need to get quality rest and it is very easy to take your laptop to bed with you just to do that little bit extra before you get some shut eye. This is something that you should never ever do and here is why.

Devices give off a certain light that can seriously affect your sleep patterns. This light can have an adverse reaction because it actually keeps you more alert and awake. This may surprise you as it did me. This is great for the daytime as it can help you become more productive but not when you are ready to go to bed.

So what you need to do is disconnect from all your devices and leave them downstairs until the morning. Then get some well earned rest and be ready to tackle your new business first thing in the morning.

New Entrepreneurs – Bad Habit # 2 – Don’t Say Yes To Everything

New entrepreneurs have the ability to spot new opportunities and for humans in general it is far easier to say yes than no. So do not say yes to every opportunity that presents itself to you. You need to sit back and assess the opportunity and only pick the ones that are right for you and can return the most amount of business.

If you take on too many things then all you do is spread yourself too thin and you can’t commit 100% to any of them.

New Entrepreneurs – Bad Habit # 3 – Comparing Yourself To Others

You should never compare yourself to other successful entrepreneurs. When you are starting out you are miles behind them so don’t put pressure on your shoulders to match their success.

They may have made more money, or have a bigger following than you, but you should see this as a motivating factor that helps you one day achieve the same success. If you do compare yourself to them and don’t get the same results then this can be highly destructive and de-motivating.

You should take the opportunity to learn from them and adopt the practices they have, then work hard and create your own unique success.

New Entrepreneurs – Learn From Successful Entrepreneurs

As I have just said you need to learn from highly successful entrepreneurs and my recommendation is to learn from two friends of mine who also happen to be my business mentors. Stuart Ross & Jay Kubassek head up two highly advanced and successful online business education training organizations called the Six Figure Mentors & Digital Experts Academy.

They take new entrepreneurs and turn them into highly successful professional digital marketing experts through their training and mindset programs.
